'Pastel Magenta'

Magenta does not exist in the visible light spectrum. Instead, it appears when our minds balance red and blue light, creating a hue that cannot be generated by a single wavelength. A soft Magenta introduces pink into the DAL 1992 collection.

The color was named after the Battle of Magenta, which took place in 1859 near the Italian town of Magenta, close to the factory where DAL 1992 stockings are knitted. The battle, a victory for French and Sardinian forces against the Austrian Empire, inspired the vivid red-purple hue and the dye magenta was created shortly after.
